Bike path

Parc linéaire des Bois-Francs

Description

Built on a former railway line, this bicycle path totals 77 km. It crosses the municipalities of Lyster, Laurierville, Plessisville, Princeville, Victoriaville, Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska and Warwick. The trail is marked Trans Canada Trail and Route Verte #1, an axis that crosses Quebec from west to east.

For the most part, the Bois-Francs linear park crosses the St. Lawrence lowlands, made up of large, flat plains. Panoramic views along the route are common, giving cyclists a sense of freedom.

On the south-western side, the bike path gives access to the Corridors Verts trail in the Eastern Townships. To the northeast, the trail continues into the Parc linéaire de la MRC de Lotbinière (towards Quebec City). Near Danville, it gives access to a “Green” spur, Le Village Fleuri, which leads to the municipality of Kingsey Falls. Several attractions are located here, including the Marie-Victorin park and the Cascades factory.

Note that the surface of the bike path is mainly stone dust, except for about ten kilometers in some municipalities. There are more than 33 rest stops along the way.
