Le Petit Témis
Description
The Petit Témis Interprovincial Linear Park is the first bike path to link two provinces: Quebec and New Brunswick. It’s also the route of the Trans Canada Trail, which connects with the NB Trail. Made up of 134 km of gravel track, entirely reserved for cyclists and pedestrians, this park is located on the right-of-way of an old railroad line, and the gradient never exceeds 4%, making it accessible to all. The bike path is dotted with several rest stops, parking lots, watering holes and observation points, and is just as interesting on foot as it is on bike. A shuttle service is available for bike transportation from Cabano to Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata.
The North section covers more than 70 km between Rivière-du-Loup and Cabano, along rivers and through a lively forest. The 63 km Southern section follows the Madawaska River and hugs the contours of Lake Témiscouata for most of the way. It is characterized by a more urban environment, and passes through a number of municipalities waiting to be discovered. The most beautiful section is that between Cabano and Dégelis, which runs constantly alongside Lake Témiscouata.
Northern Section
The Corporation du sentier Rivière-du-Loup – Témiscouata looks after the northern section and offers rustic campsites along the bike path.
Southern Section
The Corporation d’aménagement du lac Témiscouata et de la rivière Madawaska is responsible for the southern portion of the Route 232 trail on the New Brunswick border.
